Max Verstappen was happy to give Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto a tow in qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix after his lap was affected by a yellow flag. Verstappen, unable to start another lap at pace, decided to help Bortoleto secure his best grid position of eighth by providing a slipstream on the main straight. Verstappen and Bortoleto have a good relationship from racing together online on iRacing. Bortoleto appreciated the gesture and tried to reciprocate earlier in the session. Despite Verstappen’s struggles with grip, Bortoleto had his best qualifying performance, feeling comfortable and optimistic for future races. The mutual support between the two drivers shows the camaraderie and sportsmanship in Formula 1.
